Music & Sound

Music Lounge

Music Lounge is Awakenest's space for music and sound.

Music Lounge at Stayfly is its physical home and recording and production space. Current sessions are published in the programme or confirmed by request.

A three-panel collage shows the Music Lounge prepared with yoga mats at night, singing bowls in daylight, and a red piano with wooden percussion and a drum.
A musician at an outdoor desk of electronic equipment at night, a long wooden wind instrument resting beside him, the trees behind lit red and violet.

The room, and what runs it

The room is a working studio. Its recording equipment and instruments are listed with the gear.

Singing bowls, a guitar and microphones rest on a patterned rug beside the Music Lounge seating area.

The instruments

Guitars, bass, piano, keys, saxophone, flute and percussion live in the room. What is here changes as people bring their own and leave them a while.

The full list, with what each one is, sits with the gear.

A bass guitar rests on its stand beside a speaker, wooden chairs and hanging plants under coloured light.
A man sits on a bench playing an acoustic guitar beside a second guitar on a stand and an open case.
A woman plays a keyboard while a man plays a flute beside her at dusk, a saxophone waiting on its stand.
A saxophonist and a guitarist play together in the room under warm light, a third musician listening behind them.
The keys of a stage piano in low warm light.
Someone works at the mixing desk while people sit listening behind, a camera recording on a tripod.
Musician playing stringed instrument on stage.

The Music Lounge on the About page

Teachers and students from island schools have performed at gatherings held here, and at Music Lounge by the Sea in Thong Sala, an event of its own. Who took part, and when, is on the community participation page.
